By the time we open our doors to the public each day, a tremendous amount of work has already gone on behind the scenes. Whether we have one person in the building or three, the same amount of work has to get done. That’s why we are so indebted to our volunteers.
As a nonprofit funded in large part by donations, we don’t have a lot of spare change to hire staff. It’s volunteers like Tammy and her daughter, Emmalynn, in these videos that are so important to us. They show up every week and get right to work taking care of the cats. We have other incredibly dedicated volunteers that have been with us almost since day one. They aren’t featured here, but we couldn’t do what we do without them.
If you’ve ever called or emailed us and haven’t gotten a quick response, what you see here is often the reason. The health and welfare of the animals in our care comes first. It always takes at least 4 hours each morning to clean, but can be longer depending on available bodies, how many animals we have at a given time, who needs meds, and whether the washer or dryer is broken (sadly, that happens way too much!)
Thank you to the Super Heroes showing up, getting filthy, and making our world a little kinder. ❤️
